What to submit

Posterity Log exists so that future investigators, historians, and ordinary citizens can understand what life was like during Trump 47 — who enabled authoritarianism, who resisted it, and how it impacted everyday citizens.

Maybe your entry is about the friend who got the DOGE termination email after twenty years with a federal agency. The neighbour who took the ICE job, because they were desperate for the signing bonus. The career soldier discharged because of their gender identity. The accomplished scientist who had to move to another country to continue their vaccine research. The relatives you had to cut off due to their continued support for an authoritarian agenda. The staff member who got deported after turning up for their immigration review. The business owner who lost their home due to the impact of the tariffs. The history teacher who's concerned about teaching the reality of Jim Crow laws, or the Trail of Tears.

Maybe it's just how frustrated, sad, and helpless you felt.

The only thing that matters is that it's true, and that it's yours to tell.

Making your account useful

• Be concrete. Who, what, when, where. Dates and locations matter far more than you might think. Names and positions are also important.
• Separate what you saw from what you inferred. "I saw…" and "I was told…" are both valuable, but try to make it clear which is which.
• Attach supporting material if you have it. A single screenshot, photograph, or page of handwritten notes can be the difference between a tip and evidence.
• Record video or audio if you can. A few minutes of you speaking directly to the future — your voice, your face, your words — is something text cannot replicate. Video files up to 250 MB are accepted.
• Don't wait until it feels important enough. Ordinary observations from ordinary people are exactly what historians most often find themselves wishing they had.

What isn't a fit

Posterity Log is an archive, not a broadcast platform. We're not the right place for news links, social media threads, or any information already in the public domain, unless you're using them to provide context for something you personally witnessed.

We're also not the right place for real-time calls to action or campaign content. These extremely valuable functions are already covered by other organizations.

We want history to know where you stood — and what it felt like to stand there.
